Guidelines In this section, we intend to publish guidelines and scientific information in which the BVKC-SBCC somehow has been involved. These guidelines should be useful in a laboratory setting. OF LIPIDS AND OTHER CARDIOVASCULAR RISK BIOMARKERS This document is an update based on the 4th Joint European Task Force for Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Prevention and recommendations of the Belgian Lipid Club (BLC). The goal is harmonization of lipid measurement and reporting by the clinical laboratories in Belgium. Harmonization of CVD prevention strategies with lipids is necessary not only in the analytical phase, but also in the pre-analytical phase (appropriate test selection) and post-analytical phase (adequate reporting of test results, updated cutpoints and target values). With this initiative, we aim to improve CVD prevention management by clinical laboratories in Belgium and to support the clinicians to achieve their goals.
